Fancy but very simple
I ordered a very cheap vu meter from China.
12V input i had
As you can see, it has a little button for mode change, but backside, so i soldered wires on it, and i put another button onto the machine case.
There are 2 wires for power and 3 for stereo sign, so its simple, 2 wires together are coming from sound output of c64.
Hi everyone. For personal reasons, i had no time/mood/possibilites to write new posts, but sometimes i continued modding my old c64. This is the same machine, from my childhood, just i put into c16 case (dont worry, it was total bad, but its processor is still living in another plus4)
So Im still fan of leds, sorry 🙂 i installed a new RGB LED stripe under the keyboard, and temporary 2 switches, one for blue, one for red-off-green. Im still thinking how to make it better, just i had 2 holes on case… you can see here:
So maybe 3 switches could be nice, i dont know.

After a long long pause, I’m back.
So new useless but nice(?) feature is joystick port backlight.
I cut a slice from top of the connector :
After i created a plastic “console” where i can glue the leds:
With leds (ugly Chinese, but cheap and white, and works):

So, first of all, dont check my soldering, im not professional 🙂 but i’d like to give idea

It’s a stereo output what is mono now, but works fine (i also have a sid2sid card, but i have to assemble it, and buy another sid new sid chip – hopefully will be another post if you are interested)
Its works with plugged in audio-video connector, so you dont need to unplug it.
I have a mini stereo amplifier connected it.
The main point is this, where to connect sound, its a c64c mainboard in a commodore 16 case (later post)
Solder here 1st wire, and solder ground to here (or you can use any ground point):
The white one 🙂 another one is 5V for my sd2iec.
That was the difficult part.
Another part is depend on what connector do you want to use. You can use a simple mono rca one (or jack), or you can use stereo (left and right are simple connected). This is my friend’s work:
I used a connector from an external scsi cd writer, but i dont think you can see anything usefull:) :
This is what for an old pc-piece is good for 🙂
So, just connect an amplifier and you will hear the most beautiful soundchip in the history 🙂
Of course, do everything at your peril, sid chip is very delicate.
